The background on this blog

I've always been a bit of a pop culture junkie. For the last five years or so, I've had some success in convincing people to pay me to pursue this interest. After being a reporter since 1992 and covering the usual gamut of local government, courts and crime, I became an entertainment writer for The Charlotte Observer in 2000.

That particular job didn't last very long - I'm a business reporter now - but I've continued writing about entertainment subjects close to my heart. I write occasional special entertainment projects for the Observer, and I also freelance for entertainment magazines whenever I can get them to accept one of my pitches. I'm posting my diaries of some of the trips I've taken to write about various movies and reality TV stars.
